1. What are cookies and browser storage?
Cookies are small text records that a website can ask your browser to store. They are commonly used to keep a service working, remember a choice or measure how a website is used. Browsers also provide similar technologies such as local storage, which keeps a value on your device without sending it automatically with every web request.
In this policy, “browser storage” covers cookies, local storage and comparable web technologies. This policy should be read with our Privacy Policy.
2. What FernPixels currently uses
Your preference record tells the interface whether you chose essential-only storage or allowed future optional analytics. It also stores the date the choice was saved. The setting remains in your browser until you clear it or replace it through Cookie Settings.
Because optional analytics code is not active in this release, choosing “Accept optional” does not currently cause an analytics tracker to load. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy and will respect the stored preference where technically appropriate.
3. Storage categories
Essential
Essential storage supports core operation, security and the privacy controls you request. The Site uses essential local storage to remember your cookie choice so the notice does not reappear every visit. Disabling all storage in your browser may cause the notice or some preferences to reset.
Optional analytics
Analytics can help a site understand aggregated patterns such as popular pages, device categories and technical errors. FernPixels does not currently load an analytics service. If one is added, it will remain optional where consent is required, will not be used to build advertising profiles, and will be described here before use.
Advertising and personalisation
FernPixels does not currently use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels or cross-site behavioural profiles. We do not sell browser identifiers or allow a game publisher to place tracking technology through our locally stored game images.
4. Current storage list
Provider: FernPixels (first party)
Technology: local storage
Purpose: records essential/optional privacy choice and saved date
Typical duration: until you clear Site data or change your choice
Category: essential
Web hosting infrastructure may process standard request information to deliver and protect the Site. Server security logs are not browser cookies and are described in our Privacy Policy.
5. How to manage your choices
You can reopen the preference panel at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer or the button in this page's contents menu. Saving a new choice replaces the previous local-storage record.
You can also use browser controls to view, block or delete Site data. The exact steps depend on your browser and device. Deleting the FernPixels record resets your choice and causes the cookie notice to appear again. Blocking all storage will not prevent you reading our game reviews, but preference-dependent behaviour may not persist.
Browser signals such as Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track may not be implemented consistently by all services. FernPixels does not currently perform cross-site tracking. If our technology changes, we will assess relevant browser signals as part of that change.
6. Third-party websites
Our pages link to game publishers and stores, but those sites are separate from FernPixels and may set their own cookies when you visit them. Their privacy and cookie policies apply. The official game artwork on FernPixels is stored locally on our Site, so simply viewing a catalogue card does not require your browser to contact the relevant publisher's image server.
The hosted Google Fonts stylesheet used by the current design may cause your browser to request font files from Google when the page loads. That request may include ordinary network information such as your IP address and browser data. We do not use that request for advertising or receive a user-level profile from it. A future deployment can self-host the font files to remove this third-party request.
7. Changes and contact
We will update this policy if we add, remove or materially change browser-storage technology. The effective date at the top shows when this version began to apply.
